“For every well-publicised governance failure there are thousands more companies and organisations demonstrating good, high quality governance. This is in large part down to the hard work of our members and other governance professionals and we feel that it is important to draw attention to their successes as these far outnumber the failures,” says Simon Osborne, Chief Executive of ICSA: The Governance Institute. “As the Government’s new consultation on corporate governance makes clear, businesses need to be more transparent about issues such as executive remuneration. Governance professionals have a major role to play in this. Our awards have highlighted the importance of good corporate disclosure for many years and it is important that we recognise the fine efforts that are being made across all sectors.”
