Guernsey’s governance body focuses on skills and Next Generation Governance

Guernsey, 8 February 2019 – ICSA: The Governance Institute’s 2019 seminar programme will focus on the skills company secretaries and governance professionals in Guernsey require in order to support the island’s businesses and other organisations that rely on good governance to operate effectively. The chartered body, which supports and trains governance professionals working and studying in Guernsey, will also be considering the future of governance and reviewing the key areas that will require focus in the coming years.

The first two seminars in the 2019 programme are as follows:

  • 28 February - What makes a great company secretary or governance professional?
ICSA’s new competency framework for governance maps the skills, values and understanding that company secretaries need to succeed at different stages of their careers in today’s evolving governance environment. Developed in collaboration with governance professionals working at all levels and sectors, this session will demonstrate how the framework can underpin both personal development and that of company secretarial teams operating in Guernsey and elsewhere.
  • 27 March - Next Generation Governance
Big forces are reshaping what it means to be a governance professional in the 21st century – from technological change to environmental concerns and new attitudes to the role of organisations in society. This session will explore ICSA’s latest research findings on millennial perspectives on governance.

The seminars, which are being held at the Best Western Moores Hotel in Le Pollet, St Peter Port, run from 12.30-1.30pm, with refreshments and registration open from 12.15pm. Both events are open to members and non-members at a cost of £15 for members and £20 for non-members. Additional information and booking instructions for both events can be found at www.icsa.org.uk/guernsey/events
