ICSA conference to focus on what Brexit means for Jersey

Jersey, 30 March 2017 – Richard Gordon QC, Brick Court Chambers, together with Thomas Cowsill, Head of Technical, Jersey Finance and Mike Jones, Director of Policy at the Jersey Financial Services Commission, will be speaking at ICSA: The Governance Institute’s annual conference in Jersey on the subject of Brexit and what it means for the island. The trio will discuss progress so far since the UK took the decision to leave the EU and consider what the Brexit route map is looking like for Jersey.

Taking place at The Royal Yacht Hotel in Weighbridge, St Helier on 27 April 2017, this year’s conference – the largest conference for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) professionals in Jersey – tackles the theme of ‘Securing the Future’ and offers insights into how Jersey businesses and other organisations can steady the ship in the face of heightened risk and uncertainty.

Besides insight into Brexit, delegates will benefit from expert input on corporate governance, leadership, minute taking, social engineering, mindfulness and personal development as follows:

  • Keynote speaker Chris Hodge, Policy Consultant at ICSA and former Director of Corporate Governance at the Financial Reporting Council will be discussing the UK Government’s review of corporate governance
  • Dennis Tourish, Professor of Leadership and Organisation Studies, Royal Holloway, University of London, will be speaking on the subject of dysfunctional leadership in organisations
  • Peter Swabey, Policy and Research Director, ICSA: The Governance Institute, will be highlighting the importance of accurate meeting minutes and presenting ICSA’s new guidance about minute taking
  • Dr Dina Gray, Strategic Business Consultant; Visiting Fellow, Cranfield University and Author, will be considering how mindfulness can help simplify decision making and make management of board dynamics more effective
  • David Press, Managing Director, DMJ Recruitment, will be looking at how GRC professionals can increase their value in the workplace.
