ICSA Fellow awarded a CBE
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) is delighted to report that Anchor Chief Executive and ICSA-qualified Jane Ashcroft was recently made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to older people in the New Year’s Honours List.
As well as being Chief Executive of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people, Jane is also a Fellow and long-standing member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a past member of ICSA’s UK Committee and also chaired its Education Committee for a number of years.
“I am delighted to hear that Jane has been awarded a CBE in recognition of her services to older people,” said Simon Osborne, Chief Executive of ICSA. “Throughout her career I know that Jane has worked extremely hard to champion older people. As a member of our UK Committee and during her time chairing our Education Committee, she brought enormous dedication and passion to both roles and I have no doubt that her energy and determination to do the right thing have brought her the recognition she so rightly deserves.”
“My ICSA qualification has certainly stood me in good stead in my career, and as you know I am a proud Chartered Secretary!” said Jane, paying tribute to ICSA’s chartered secretary qualification that has helped her throughout her career.
Jane currently chairs the English Community Care Association (ECCA), where she has been helping to steer its merger with the National Care Association to form Care England, the leading representative body for independent care services in England. Her passion and commitment to improving the lives of the elderly has raised the profile of older people’s issues across the country. A respected leader and commentator, Jane has contributed to debates on such issues as social care funding reform and rating systems for care homes. She is also a trustee of the Silver Line, the free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, and is a founding director of Your Care Rating, established so that all residents living within a care home are given the opportunity to provide views and feedback via an independent, confidential and standardised survey. Jane is also a founding Director of Associated Retirement Community Operators, which is committed to ensuring that new models of housing and care are developed to provide older people with choices for great lifestyles in later life.
