ICSA Guernsey Awards 2019 Winners announced at Annual Dinner

Guernsey, 20 November 2019 – The winners of The Chartered Governance Institute’s ICSA Guernsey Awards 2019, which recognise the achievements of Guernsey’s governance professionals and corporate service providers, were announced at a glittering awards dinner on Friday, 15 November 2019. The academic achievements of the Institute’s local members and students were also celebrated at the ICSA Guernsey Annual Awards Dinner 2019, which took place at the Duke of Richmond Hotel.

“We were delighted to have a fantastic turnout to celebrate the professional excellence of our award winners and the academic success of our local members and students,” said Paul Smith, Chair of the Institute’s Guernsey Branch. “The quality of award nominees improves year on year, which is testament to the value of good governance. Good governance benefits companies, large and small, by establishing a framework of processes and attitudes that add value to any business. It helps to build reputation and ensures long-term continuity and success. Our winners’ commitment to maintaining the highest standards of governance as they navigate the complex and ever changing legal and regulatory environments for clients is fully deserving of recognition.

“The academic success of our students also bodes well for the profession since these are the company secretaries, governance, risk and compliance professionals and administrators of the future who will ensure that Guernsey’s hard fought reputation as a trusted place to do business is maintained.”

The ICSA Guernsey Awards winners are as follows:

  • Company Secretary of the Year 2019: Nikolett Mezei, Carey Group
  • Governance Professional of the Year 2019: Rebecca Booth, Carey Group
  • Corporate Services Team of the Year 2019: Praxis IFM
  • The One to Watch 2019: Gemma Woods, Praxis IFM.

The awards were sponsored by Board Intelligence, First Intuition and Simplifie, all keen supporters of good governance and the Institute’s members.

Mr Smith, who sat on the judging panel commented: “Once again, we were most impressed with the professionalism and technical excellence demonstrated by all of the nominees. The level of governance expertise that Guernsey’s governance professionals possess makes the job of selecting the winners a very difficult task indeed.”
