Guernsey, 26 September 2018 – Broadcaster, travel writer, marine biologist and former Royal Marine Monty Halls will be bringing his unique take on leadership to Guernsey this autumn when he appears as the guest speaker at this year’s ICSA Guernsey Awards. Winner of Channel 4’s Superhuman, and most recently seen on TV in Channel 4’s My Family and the Galapagos, naturalist and leadership specialist Monty will regale the audience with tales of his ventures in some of the most remote environments on earth presenting wildlife and adventure documentaries.
Taking place at The Old Government House Hotel on Friday, 9 November, the ICSA Guernsey Awards 2018 will celebrate the achievements of members and students in the following five categories:
- Company Secretary of the Year (sponsored by Board Intelligence)
- Corporate Services Team of the Year (sponsored by Perivan)
- Corporate Services Officer of the Year (sponsored by Brainloop)
- Governance, Risk and Compliance Award
- The One to Watch (sponsored by First Intuition).

- A former Royal Marine Officer and trained marine biologist, Monty has led teams through some of the most demanding environments on land and at sea. His adventures include discovering prehistoric settlements amid great white sharks, avoiding the bullets of poachers and photographing a dangerous and rare crocodile underwater for the first time.
‘The new Cousteau’ first came to prominence when he led a group of adventurers and scientists to a sunken city off coast of India that could prove to be the cradle of civilisation as we know it today. He has gone onto circumnavigate the globe three times through his many adventures - including the search for £2,000,000 in gold bullion on a sunken P&O liner.
Monty has documented his travels in Great Ocean Adventures, shown his knowledge of medieval warfare in The Perfect Weapon and reached the bottom of a sticky issue in All About Dung. Fleeing the city in Great Escape on BBC2, he charted his experiences living in a remote area on the west coast of Scotland. He’s looked at WWII’s Great Escapes, observed wildlife, renovated a cattle-shed to make a basic home and participated in local life. Monty’s book Beachcomber Cottage accompanied the series. His adventures have also appeared on Channel 5’s Monty’s Diving Mysteries and the series Monty And... where he took viewers around the world’s most fascinating underwater sites. Monty also took part in (and won) Channel 4’s Superhuman - competing in twelve tests that pushed the participants to their mental and physical limits.
As a speaker he demonstrates how we can learn from ecosystems and local communities. He reveals how other animals behave under stress, how we occupy niches within our own teams and how best to maintain objectives in an ever-changing environment.
