London, 19 June 2019 – ICSA: The Governance Institute, the professional body for governance, which has a thriving branch in Jamaica, has awarded Elizabeth Henry-Pottinger, company secretary and senior manager at KPMG in Jamaica, the 2019 President’s Medal for meritorious service.
An ICSA Fellow and Chair of ICSA’s Jamaica branch, Elizabeth received the medal from John Heaton, President of ICSA: The Governance Institute on his recent visit to the Jamaica branch. Speaking after the event, Mr Heaton said:
“Elizabeth has served on ICSA Jamaica’s branch committee for many years and is a tireless and enthusiastic supporter of ICSA in Jamaica. An experienced company secretary, who has worked for accountancy firm KPMG in Jamaica for 21 years, Elizabeth’s knowledge of company law and corporate governance has been invaluable as the branch has established itself as the home of good governance in Jamaica. I am delighted that we have been able to honour Elizabeth’s passionate commitment to corporate governance and the professionals who work in this field in Jamaica in this way.”
Past President of ICSA Dermott Brooks commented:
“Elizabeth is a very worthy recipient of this medal. While a personal tribute to Elizabeth, it also reflects well on the branch and its members. They have all raised the profile of the Institute in Government circles and in Jamaica in general, as well as within the wider business community.”
Elizabeth echoed this sentiment when she collected her award, saying “I’m honoured to be recognized in this way, but the award represents the hard work of all of the volunteers of the Jamaica branch of ICSA.”
Simon Osborne, Chief Executive of ICSA concluded:
“Elizabeth has been a great volunteer, promoting the interests and ideals of ICSA: The Governance Institute in Jamaica for many years. She has served continuously on the executive committee for at least 20 years and this is her second stint as Chair. Lately she has rejuvenated the branch with real energy and vigour. The award of the President’s Medal is well deserved recognition of her commitment and leadership. It has been my privilege to collaborate with her.”
