Belfast, 3 February 2017 – The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Brian Kingston, met Frank Curtiss, the President of ICSA: The Governance Institute and Darren Leonard, ICSA’s Northern Ireland Branch Vice - Chairperson earlier today to discuss how governance is a key issue for both UK corporates and organisations in the public sector.
Meeting in advance of ICSA’s 82nd Annual Branch Dinner this evening, all were agreed that there continues to be a need for effective governance in the private and public sectors. This is especially so in times of political uncertainty, both in Northern Ireland and more widely, particularly on the issue of an impending “hard Brexit”.
The Lord Mayor remarked that integrity and certainty were central to governance. Frank Curtiss confirmed that the Institute is especially keen to emphasise to all stakeholders that the ICSA is recognised as “the one-stop-shop” for all things governance including risk management, compliance and clear company secretary roles.
Darren Leonard said that the Institute aims to be the natural home for governance and compliance professionals throughout the UK and Ireland and that the Northern Ireland Branch will be holding a number of professional development events and social events over the next twelve months.
The Lord Mayor wished Darren every success with the annual dinner and with the Branch’s other upcoming events.
