Belfast, 7 February 2017 – ICSA: The Governance Institute recognised the achievements of some exceptional students at its Northern Ireland Annual Branch Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Friday 3 February, with star student Claire de Wet walking off with four out of five of the top prizes. An employee of Maples Fund Services, Claire was judged to be the best student of ICSA’s Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme, offered by Ulster University. She also took home top prizes for corporate governance and strategy and was jointly awarded the Newton Compton Memorial Cup by the local Northern Ireland Branch, in recognition of being the joint top student in Company Law and Company Secretaryship.
‘Corporate governance plays a vital role in keeping the economy, and the businesses that underpin it, in robust health. We are pleased to recognise the achievements of our students who are helping companies to implement the right processes and structures to achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively,’ says Mark McAllister, Chair of ICSA’s Northern Ireland Branch. ‘All of the students who received prizes should be extremely proud of their efforts and we thank Edel O’Neill, Ulster University Course Director; Frank Curtiss, President of the ICSA: The Governance Institute; and our local sponsors, Siobhan Taylor-Winter from Axiom; and Adrian Kelly from Ulster Bank for attending our annual branch dinner to present the prize winners with their awards.’
