Qualification recognised by the Government of Barbados

London/Barbados, 28 October 2013
ICSA Professional Qualification recognised by the Government of Barbados
ICSA, the membership and qualifying body for professionals working in governance, risk and compliance, is delighted to announce that the Government of Barbados has formally recognised and accepted the professional qualification of the ICSA for promotion within the Barbadian public service.

Enjoying Royal Chartered status, ICSA (The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) champions high governance standards by providing qualifications, training, high-quality guidance and support. The main qualification needed to achieve chartered status and become a full member of ICSA is the Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme (CSQS). People can also become chartered by completing an ICSA validated university programme that awards the GradICSA status, as well as a postgraduate qualification.

The CSQS has two levels, with modules covering financial reporting and analysis, applied business law, corporate governance, corporate law, financial decision making, strategy in practice, company secretarial practice and a final case study. Upon completion of the CSQS examinations or a collaborative masters degree, students become graduates of ICSA.  Thereafter, they can enhance their professional standing and become full Members of the Institute (ACIS), rising to the senior grade of Fellow (FCIS) provided they satisfy the Institute’s requirements.

Simon Osborne, Chief Executive of ICSA based in London said: ‘We are delighted that our members in Barbados will now enjoy proper recognition of their professional qualification and standing. Our members are well qualified people, working in all sectors and at every level of seniority, who have completed a rigorous study programme in order to pass our examinations. Similarly, as Associate or Fellow members of a chartered institute, they are subject to scrupulous controls to ensure that they are fit and proper persons. We are delighted that the Government of Barbados has recognised the high professional standing that our CSQS qualification affords our graduates and members.’
