Register of Beneficial Ownership CPD event - slides now available

The first CPD event of the Autumn series was hosted by Matheson in Dublin and gave delegates an opportunity to get the most up to date position on the Register of Beneficial Ownership.

Fergus Bolster, Partner, Corporate at Matheson explained the regulatory background to the Register, the requirement for keeping it up to date and he discussed the definition of a beneficial owner.

Gavin Coleman, Director, Asset Management and Compliance at Matheson gave a practical walk through of the process for inputting data to the Register and also discussed some of the issues that inputters had experienced, particularly with regard to the verification of data prior to submission.

Caitriona Cole, Senior Associate, Asset Management Team at Matheson discussed the application of the Register with respect to collective investment schemes and key issues to consider.

Finally, Lorna Daly, Senior Associate, Financial Institutions at Matheson highlighted the consequences of breaches and non-compliance with the regulations.

These presentations were followed by a detailed question and answer session which was chaired by ICSA President, Salvador Nash. All speakers remained behind after the event and made themselves available to answer individual queries.

A copy of the slides for the event is available here.

A copy of the submission that was made by the Irish Region in the first week of September to the Department responsible for the Register, and the Companies Registration Office, is available here.

Many thanks to Gavin Coleman and the team at Matheson for hosting a superb CPD event.
