Climate Change & the impact on Mann

A look at the latest measured indicators and elements driving global climate change, possible links to weather events, plus evidence at a local level. Exploring the prospects of further changes and impacts during the next 20 to 200 years, using scenarios modelled at international and national levels to illustrate potential pathways.

Adrian Cowin, Director, Energy and Sustainability Centre

Adrian attended Preston Polytechnic and attained a HND in Applied Physics. He joined the Meteorological Office at Ronaldsway Airport in 1983, then qualified as a Forecaster in 1985 after completing two specialist courses at the UK Met Office College at Shinfield Park, Reading and soon became a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society. He was promoted to Senior Meteorological Officer in 2012 but still covered some operational duties including public, shipping and aviation forecasting. He’s developed a keen interest in climate change and impacts, especially on our weather and infrastructure. He retired in July 2023, after completing 40 years of service and is now a Director at the Energy and Sustainability Centre.
