Salary: £42,000 per annum plus 20% bonus OTE 

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Overview

The Chartered Governance Institute, UK and Ireland (CGI UKI) is the qualifying and membership body for governance with 130 years’ experience of educating and supporting governance professionals. It has in excess of 34,000 students and members worldwide and provides professional development, guidance, career opportunities and thought leadership for the governance profession.  The Chartered Governance Institute, UK and Ireland is the largest division within the group.

Purpose of job

Working closely with the Head of Outreach the Employer Development Manager is responsible for managing our existing UK and offshore employer accounts as well as identifying new opportunities with employers, training providers and higher education partnerships to grow the numbers undertaking CGIUKI core qualifications and training.

Major Objectives

  • Develop, strengthen and pro-actively account manage existing and new employer relationships
  • Positioning CGI UKI’s full range of qualifications and training services to support existing employer accounts
  • Increasing the number of students and learners by identifying and winning business from new and existing employers and CGI UKI tuition providers
  • Increasing the number of university accreditation partnerships
  • Increasing demand for CGI UKI products and services by engaging with business and their networks
  • Providing regular market insight based on your activity.

Responsibilities

Account management

  • Engage with senior decision makers at existing employers and tuition providers to increase sales of CGI UKI’s qualification and training products including short courses.
  • Identify and target leading tuition providers with the ability to grow student numbers UK and internationally
  • Support employers seeking to develop bespoke training solutions
  • Support those employers and tuition providers who may be at risk of withdrawing from CGI UKI’s qualification and training programmes.

New business

  • Identify new sectors and employers through telephone, email and meetings to develop meaningful relationships with them
  • Identify employers’ needs through consultative selling techniques to scope services and solutions to foster meaningful relationships with new and existing employers
  • Identify training solutions via the CGI UKI’s Competency Framework
  • Identify bespoke training solutions across all sectors
  • Identify new training providers and support their approval to offer the CGI UKI’s qualifications and training products
  • Identify new opportunities in HE for accreditation partnerships.

Commercial products

  • Meet commercial sales targets by selling CGi UKI’s products and services to employers, tuition providers and higher education
  • Make recommendations/establish case for any change or additions to training products via the Product Development Group
  • Collaborate with the L&D team to implement other qualifications or products identified e.g non-chartered or apprenticeship routes.

Management

  • Responsible for Employer Development Executive
  • Support business development forecasting and pipelines by accurately recording all business opportunities generated on CRM
  • Contribute to development of pricing and processes for new products and Services and internal systems requirements

Person Specification:

Experience
  • 3-4 years of working within a Sales or Account Management role

  • Proven ability to leverage commercial knowledge and use it to win other accounts

  • Successful track record of winning new accounts

  • Evidence of account management progression

  • Internal and external stakeholder management

Skills
  • A market development mindset and approach to growth; keen to connect to and widen CGI’s member base and strengthen the Institute’s impact and reach

  • Good written and presentation skills

  • Ability to identify and exploit commercial opportunities in terms of business training needs with solutions focus approach to methods of delivery

  • Consultative sales skills

  • Account Management skills

  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility

  • Ability to work on own initiative and resolve problems proactively

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others to facilitate contributions to and support for your activities.
