Trustees x3 | Electrical Safety First

Electrical Safety First (ESF), a campaigning charity that aims to reduce deaths and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes, is seeking three new Trustees with strategic expertise in digital or organisation transformation, HR and communications.

It’s a hugely exciting time to be involved with ESF with the rise in the use of electricity in smart homes, electric vehicles and the drive for zero carbon solutions. Our work has never been more important in protecting people and helping to make the world a safer place.

We have recently recruited new staff to increase our capacity in technical, data analysis and digital and social media. We are stepping up our capacity to drive change, and have strengthened our communications and policy & public affairs teams to further raise our profile through integrated campaigns.

Our board has also undergone a transformation. The succession of Sarah Frost to become Chair, and with completed terms creating some vacancies, there is an opportunity for three new Trustees to bring fresh energy and inspiration.

Who we are looking for:

Trustees will be expected to commit 1-2 days, four times a year, when the meeting cycle comes around. Other engagement are ad hoc and therefore, up to 8 months of the year, the role will measured in hours per month rather than days.

We are seeking three Trustees to represent the following areas:

Digital and technological transformation

A person with experience of achieving large scale digital and technological transformation in an organisation. This Trustee will sit on the Certsure Management Board as a representative of ESF and support the transformation of Certsure, a commercial business that ESF have a 75% share of. An understanding of cyber security and data management would also be helpful.

HR strategy

A strategic HR professional is required to chair our Remuneration & Appointments Committee and play a critical role in supporting the Chair of Trustees with executive and board succession planning.

Communications strategy

A strategic communications professional to support the new Head of Communications and the board on strategic decision making relating to digital, social media and campaigns.

Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 11th July 2022
