Secretariat Manager

Hours: Full time
Contract: Maternity cover – 12 months
Location: London (temporarily working from home)
Salary: £59,696 - £70,229 pa

As Secretariat Manager you will lead on the design and implementation of the secretariat framework and ensure high quality governance services are delivered to the Council and all Committees. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring an annual schedule of business, allowing key decisions to take place in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Identifying and working with colleagues to put improvements in place, year on year
  • Ensuring the smooth running of all formal meetings 
  • Providing advice and support to colleagues on governance decisions required by the General Dental Council’s standing orders
  • Advising Chairs on the Terms of Reference of the Committee and ensuring that decisions are taken appropriately, overseeing the drafting of Chairs’ briefing material
  • Line managing Governance Managers and playing an active role in their development
  • Leading on the communication of all secretariat matters to and from the business


About you:

The ideal candidate will need experience of designing, implementing and maintaining efficient secretariat frameworks, as well as experience of line management and drafting briefing material, minutes and actions. The ability to act with integrity and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information is equally important.
