Senior Performance and Governance Manager

The Group Finance & Performance Unit sits at the corporate centre of the Greater London Authority, helping the Mayor of London to set a budget that reflects his vision for London – and then making sure we have the performance and governance frameworks to ensure we deliver against that vision.

We are looking for someone to join us as our Senior Performance & Governance Manager: someone with a passion for using performance and governance disciplines to underpin delivery; and with hands on experience of what it takes to implement organisation-wide performance reporting and assurance frameworks successfully.

This is a high-profile role at the heart of, and working across, two organisations: both the GLA and our sister organisation the Old Oak & Park Royal Development Corporation. OPDC is one of two Mayoral Development Corporations and has been charged with leading the planning and regeneration of an emerging new district in west London centred on the new Old Oak Common HS2 super-hub station.

You will be working with the most senior officers and politicians within both the GLA and OPDC, so you will need strong interpersonal and communication skills and a track record of being able to influence and persuade others – while also being sensitive to the pressures and contexts of those you work with. You’ll be able to understand the wider, strategic picture and skilled at managing cross-organisational projects, bringing energy and excellent organisational skills.

We are looking for someone proactive and flexible who can identify opportunities to improve how we do things and can bring to bear their skills and experience across a diverse set of disciplines, including also business planning, effective decision-making, risk management and project and performance management.

Finally, you’ll have excellent IT skills and be able to pull together presentations, design complex spreadsheets and put together readable and compelling reports. Wider knowledge of performance and enterprise reporting packages would be welcome but isn’t essential.

At present GLA staff are working largely from home, with office space available at our offices based at City Hall, More London.  Over the coming weeks and months, we will moving to hybrid working, linked to our relocation programme. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office. Office working will be at the London Fire Brigade Head Office building on Union Street (Southwark, SE1 0LL), where the GLA team will be based, and at Brent Civic Centre (Wembley Park, HA9 0FJ), where OPDC will be based.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
