Trustees x 3

North London Hospice is part of the fabric of north London – a diverse and vibrant community. We are incredibly privileged to provide the highest quality palliative care and end of life support to 2,500 people each year across Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

It is an exciting time to join the Board of the North London Hospice. We have a new inspiring and innovative CEO, we are embarking on a new strategy, and have recently updated our vision, purpose and values that underpin our 4 year strategy.

We are a vibrant, thriving, and successful hospice that has a well-established reputation and credibility in the sector and beyond.

Part of our new strategy for 2021-2025 is to build on this strong position and to continue to develop new models of high-quality care and to nurture the skills required to be the leading provider in the future delivery of specialist palliative care services across the Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

Through our new strategic plan, we will continue to increase and drive innovation and quality to provide more people with outstanding, personalised care through all of our services.

We are looking to expand our care delivered in people’s homes and offer other services through partnerships to provide 24-7 care and support.
We want to continue to provide our staff and dedicated, passionate volunteers with enjoyable and rewarding experiences; there is no greater feeling than supporting the people of our hospice.

Finally, we want to ensure we train the best to be the best so we can share our experience, expertise and knowledge locally and nationally.
This is an opportune time to join the Board as we look to the future and in light of the pandemic, reconsider the ways in which we continue to improve our services and support our communities. As a Board we are collaborative, open, honest, respectful, empowering, and passionate about equality and diversity. We are keen to develop our board and represent the diverse communities we support every day.

We are looking to appoint a number of people including someone with skills and expertise in finance. As we are looking to continue to innovate our services and presence, it would be helpful to invite someone with IT/Digital expertise to the board.

Given the landscape of commissioning is transforming it would be advantageous to have someone with a clinical or commissioning background from either the NHS and/or social care sectors.

There are 6 Board Meetings a year for about 2 hours, as a Trustee you are expected to join at least one subcommittee that usually meet four times a year and to attend an annual Strategy Day. We have a number of committees including Finance & External Audit, Clinical Governance & Assurance, People & Organisational Development, Fundraising, Retail and the Board & Remuneration Committee.

We expect the time commitment to be a minimum of eight hours a month, including reading and preparation for meetings, sub committees, meeting with the staff and people we support and other key events with stakeholders.

Closing date: Monday 1st November 2021
