About this role

We are looking for a forward-thinking company secretary to support our exceptional Trust Board. The Company Secretary is responsible for ensuring that the Trust complies with standard financial and legal practice and maintains high standards of corporate governance across the organisation. The Company Secretary will provide the internal legal view on matters affecting the Trust and ensure the highest standards of good governance and compliance with relevant legislation.

  • The Company Secretary is an officer of the company responsible for ensuring that Board procedures are followed, and that applicable rules and regulations are complied with (Principles of Good Governance, Code of Best Practice (the Combined Code and UK Charity Governance Code).
  • This role holds a strategic position at the heart of governance operations.
  • You'll partner to the Chair of the Trust Board and CEO, providing expert, consistent advice and guidance on all governance and compliance matters.
  • The Company Secretary is expected to attend all Trust Board and Committee meetings (currently 27 meetings during the academic year). In 2021-22 – a small number of these are in person and in London, the rest can be attended remotely.
