Help us support transformational experiences for students at Lancaster University

Lancaster University Students’ Union is committed to ensuring students have a fulfilling time at university. We work towards that goal by getting involved in every aspect of the life of the University, providing a wide range of services designed to make time at Lancaster University as fun, fulfilling and fantastic as it can be.

Over the last two years, we have made significant changes to ensure that we have the right systems, structures, policies and procedures to be as effective as possible and deliver what our students deserve.

We recently appointed new board members and a new Chief Executive.
We are now looking to add the financial expertise to our Board and Committees to give us the support and challenge needed to build an even stronger SU as we continue to emerge from the pandemic.

We are in a fortunate position with healthy reserves but will need to keep a close eye on our commercial performance, build long-term financial sustainability and diversify of income streams. These factors will be critical to our future success.

In our quest for financial sustainability, we would benefit from candidates with expertise in finance and risk to complement our existing expertise.
It’s important for us to build a collaborative culture where we empower students, staff and volunteers to work collectively as a positive force for change. This helps us to achieve even more for students. We’ll want you to help empower others too.

We value the commitment of our volunteers and where possible will set meeting dates as far as 18 months in advance.

We are proud to have diversity of age, gender and ethnicity within our organisation, but our board would benefit from enhanced gender diversity and greater ethnicity.

We would especially welcome applications from women and from candidates from Black, Asian, and other minority ethnic communities.
We are very open to this being your first board role.
