Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill 2020 – Government fact sheets

Of interest to those responsible for arranging meetings of companies and other organisations

On 1 June, the government published fact sheets providing an explanation of each of the measures in the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill 2020.

There are 10 fact sheets covering the following subjects:

  • Overview of the Bill
  • Moratorium
  • Restructuring plan
  • Prohibition of termination clauses
  • Suspension of wrongful trading liability
  • Statutory demands and winding-up notices
  • Annual General Meetings and other general meetings
  • Companies House filings
  • Financial services exclusions
  • Retrospective provisions

The Bill passed all three stages in the House of Commons on 3 June and its second reading in the House of Lords on 9 June with no material amendments, but will now enter the Lords’ Committee stage.
