Effective Chairing Skills

An effective meeting requires an effective chairperson. This course teaches the practical skills that every company needs to get things done.

Delivered with a mix of teaching, exercises and discussion, we focus on three key areas. Planning, chairing and evaluation.

Effective Minute Taking

Taking minutes can be hard. Vague agendas. Ambiguous agreements. An unskilled chairperson. All these can all make the taking of an accurate record a daunting task.

Or perhaps you have not yet been taught the right way to do it?

This practical and interactive one-day course provides a toolkit of skills which will boost your confidence in the writing and presenting of accurate minutes – and help you deal with the other issues above.

What will you learn?

By the end of the day you will understand:

  • Why are minutes kept and the issues that can occur
  • How to take accurate minutes, and deal with those issues
  • Techniques for effective communication, relationship building and dealing with discord

Essential Coaching Skills

Being a governance professional can be challenging especially when managing a team or managing upwards. Coaching skills has proven to be the most effective way to motivate people and colleagues performances. The same skills can also be applied in other situations such as working with the board.

We have developed a 2-hour one-to-one coaching session which will enable you to focus on how coaching skills can support you as governance professional. You will complete a pre-course questionnaire, which will assist the trainer to address your unique challenges.

If you are new to management, want to develop colleagues to reach their full potential; find delegation and/or managing people anywhere in your organisation challenging, this bespoke session will equip you with the essential coaching skills needed.

Are you prepared for the UK Modern Slavery Act (2015) new compliance requirements?

The UK Government has published its response to the transparency in supply chains consultation on proposed changes to supply chains reporting under the Modern Slavery Act. It has committed to strengthening the transparency in supply chains provisions by amending section 54.

The new requirements represent a more detailed and rigorous reporting process – with a greater likelihood of sanctions for non compliant statements and non-reporting. Now is the time to prepare for the changes you will need to undertake in your next statement.

Building Board Effectiveness for Health and Safety

Health and safety is now recognised as being a genuine boardroom issue. What is less clear, however, is how boards should be approaching it.

This innovative course gives governance professionals increased knowledge, skills and insights into the good governance of health and safety practice, so as to help them assist their boards in developing their effectiveness and strategic capability in this area.
