Overview

The UK Government has published its response to the transparency in supply chains consultation on proposed changes to supply chains reporting under the Modern Slavery Act. It has committed to strengthening the transparency in supply chains provisions by amending section 54.

The new legislation will:

  • Extend the reporting requirement to public bodies with a budget of £36 million or more;
  • Require organisations to cover specific topics in their modern slavery statements and publish them on the new Government registry by a single reporting deadline; and
  • Introduce civil penalties in line with the ongoing development of the Single Enforcement Body for employment rights and issue an update on this in due course.

What will the new requirements mean for your business?

The new requirements represent a more detailed and rigorous reporting process – with a greater likelihood of sanctions for non compliant statements and non-reporting. Now is the time to prepare for the changes you will need to undertake in your next statement.

How we can help:

  • Our workshop is designed to build on your existing knowledge of the requirements of the UK Modern Slavery Act (2015.)
  • You will learn about the next steps you need to take to demonstrate continuous improvement of your modern slavery statement in line with Government recommendations, the level of detail to include, and what best practice looks like.
  • Prior to the workshop, you will be able to access e-learning on combatting modern slavery risk in business and supply, in order to provide an excellent introduction to the course.
