East Coast College Director honoured for governance expertise at CGUIUKI Awards 2019

London, 28 November 2019 – Wendy Stanger, Director of Governance at East Coast College has been awarded an accolade for good governance by The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland, organiser of the prestigious CGIUKI Awards 2019. Wendy won the coveted Governance Professional of the Year award at a glittering awards celebration at the Park Lane Hilton in London last night.

Commenting on her win, Peter Swabey, Policy and Research Director at The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland said: “This award celebrates individuals who have built and sustained strong relationships with their stakeholders and demonstrated innovative and effective approaches to good governance. Wendy has added measurable value to East Coast College, making a significant contribution to achieving departmental and organisational objectives, as well as improving governance. Having gone above and beyond to achieve real change whilst maintaining the human touch, Wendy is a worthy winner of the Governance Professional of the Year award.”

The annual awards, which recognise excellence in governance, also saw the following individuals and teams crowned winners:

    (Andrew Eames of St. Modwen Properties PLC was Highly Commended)
  • Team of the Year: Provident Financial plc
  • Governance Project of the Year: HSBC – Global governance excellence
    (Premier League / EFL - Capability Code of Practice was Highly Commended)
  • Service Provider of the Year: Support Services for Education
    (DMJ Recruitment was Highly Commended)
  • The One to Watch: Christina Meikle, Senior Consultant, Ernst & Young LLP.
