According to Sara Drake, Chief Executive at The Chartered Governance Institute:

“Good governance benefits all organisations, regardless of size, by establishing a framework of processes and attitudes that adds value and helps to build reputation. Now more than ever, there is a need for transparency and clarity of purpose and the diverse range of companies and organisations which were shortlisted and won awards last night shows just how strongly good governance is being championed across the board. Each year, the standard gets higher and higher and it is becoming increasingly difficult for our judges to single out winners from the large number of individuals, teams and organisations that are helping to ensure high standards of governance in the UK. This is not a bad problem to have, however, as the fact that we have so many worthy contenders is testament to the leading role that the UK plays in driving good governance practice worldwide.”
