About UK Coaching Solutions
National Coaching Foundation (UK Coaching) develops inspiring coaches to bring the transformative power of #GreatCoaching to the lives of millions.
As the leading charitable organisation for sports and physical activity coaches in the UK, our vision is to create happier and healthier communities, and we are looking for people who share our passion and purpose.
The National Coaching Foundation is made up of three organisations: UK Coaching, UK Coaching Solutions Limited and 1st4sport Qualifications.
UK Coaching Solutions is UK Coaching’s commercial trading subsidiary, and we are here to support people to deliver great coaching and the organisations who recruit, develop, educate, support and deploy people and we develop products and services that support more people and organisations to foster active communities.
Through our commitment to people, passion and progress, we’re taking the lead in coaching excellence and within our portfolio is 1st4sport Qualifications which is an awarding body that specialises in providing regulated learning, development and assessment for coaches in the UK.
We work with Training Providers, Sport England, UK Sport and the Home Country Sports Councils, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs), and a host of sporting and physical activity partners and agencies.
About the role
As a member of the UK Coaching Solutions Board, you will be independent of the main UK Coaching Board and provide specialist insight, scrutiny and challenge into key awarding organisational processes, outcomes and reports.
As a commercial subsidiary, we have a strong and up-to-date offer that is mapped closely to CIMPSA requirements and work closely with many of the national sporting governing bodies. However, we are now looking at how we can be more commercially viable in our approach.
This includes exploring how we can maximise our targets, incomes and profits whilst also supporting and nurturing the operational team to understand the importance of this but not neglecting on our regulatory standards and requirements.
We are also keen to continue looking at better ways of working with and for our regulators, ensuring we keep on the right path compliance-wise whilst exploring what best practice looks like in this area.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking an awarding organisation specialist who has operated at a senior level within another awarding body and can provide support, scrutiny and challenge to our executive team in areas such as compliance and commerciality.
Ideally, you will have held the Responsible Officer position, or have a senior leadership level of understanding and knowledge of Ofqual regulatory requirements, to advise on best practices in quality and compliance.
You will be able to independently support our Head of Awarding, ensuring that we maintain our high standards of compliance and provide guidance to regulatory queries, changes or challenges that may arise.
You will also provide strategic support on commercial growth and development, asking questions on how we can further the financial return of our products, whilst also offering guidance on how the executive team can be more commercially minded in their approach and support their teams in adapting to this perspective.
As an independent non-executive director, you will be part of the smaller UK Coaching Solutions Board which in turn reports to the main UK Coaching Board. As such you will understand the legal requirements of being on a Board and provide insights to guide us through a rapidly evolving landscape and offer the appropriate support and challenge at a strategic level.
We are open to people looking for their first Trustee position and will support and develop your knowledge and experience in this area.
