As a Governance Manager at LSBU, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of governance across the university.
Your new role
Your new role is to support the Director of Governance in delivering a high-quality, professional governance service to the LSBU Group. You will contribute to an innovative and diverse educational group, including a modern university and a vibrant student community of around 18,000. Although primarily focused on LSBU, the remit of this role may extend to SBC and SBA depending on business needs. As a key member of the group governance office, you will support ongoing improvements to governance and company secretariat services across the LSBU Group. The role involves fostering relationships within the governance team, external advisors, and the broader governance and education sectors to promote best practices.
You will also act as the Group's Deputy Company Secretary supporting the Director of Governance on all matters related to filing at Companies House and providing advice to our Executive on all company compliance.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Qualifications and experience
- A graduate with at least three years' experience in a busy company secretarial department or similar regulatory function;
- A chartered secretary qualification is desirable but not essential, however the candidate should be able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the governance profession;
- An understanding of higher education, further education and/or secondary education governance, is desirable.
Essential personal attributes and competencies - Experience of working within a highly regulated environment.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Confidence and gravitas to engage with senior stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive mindset with the willingness to take on new tasks and adapt within the role.
- A customer-focused approach, thinking strategically and proactively to meet the needs of the organisation.
- Ability to deliver work of a consistently high quality, often to tight deadlines.
- A natural team-player with a demonstrable record of forming flexible, collaborative professional relationships.
- Excellent ICT skills.
- Commitment to and practical application of the university's values.
- The ability to produce concise briefing notes/professional minutes for a range of audiences.
- Ability to work flexibly, prioritise own workload and cope with changing priorities
