Senior Officer - Governance and Secretariat

About the Role

In this role, you will work as part of the University’s Governance and Secretariat Team which is responsible for supporting the decision-making bodies of the University, ensuring that the University has efficient and effective governance arrangements.

The role involves servicing and supporting a range of University Committees and includes drafting agendas, arranging meetings, preparing papers, producing minutes and ensuring action points are progressed.  In addition, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the University Committee Handbook, provide advice, guidance and training on service standards and Committee procedural issues, and deliver induction and training for new Committee Secretaries and members.

You will assist with other duties assigned to the team, such as project work and new developments as they arise.

About You

With prior experience of drafting agendas, producing minutes and following up action points within Higher Education, or another large organisation, you will be highly organised and able to manage deadlines. You will have a keen eye for detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You will be able to build effective working relationships with staff across many levels of seniority throughout the University, and, with a flexible approach to your work, you will be able to work both independently, and as part of a highly focused team.

You will be proactive and confident in your ability to use, develop and maintain effective administrative systems and to deliver a consistently high standard of customer focused service.
