Our client is a global leader in its field with a history of creating sustainable value over more than 40 years. It has never had a dedicated in-house company secretarial facility, and it now seeks to recruit a capable, experienced, qualified candidate who can join and help to shape the function going forward.
The Company Secretary joined them a year ago in a standalone role and is now looking for a Deputy Secretary with sound PLC experience to join the business to provide solid support to the business as it grows and changes in the upcoming years. This role also arises in preparation for succession planning, as well as needing extra expertise to put in processes and procedures that will be necessary for its newly listed status on the Amsterdam Euronext Exchange. So the remit of this role will change over the next 2-3 years, and there is much a dedicated company secretarial function can do to reach out, and add value in supporting parts of the business which have not had the benefit of access to an in-house resource in the past. This is a rare, green field opportunity to join an organisation in a newly created role and a fantastic opportunity to make the role your own!
The role would suit a candidate with the following skills and experience;
- A chartered secretary (CGI) or qualified lawyer.
- Have a thorough understanding of company law, listing and disclosure rules and other corporate governance and compliance matters relevant to a listed company. (Any previous experience gained of the Amsterdam Euronext Exchange would be very useful, although it is not a pre-requisite).
- Demonstrable and wide ranging knowledge and experience of company secretarial issues.
- Have strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to think broadly on issues and apply sound judgement in problem solving.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a good eye for detail and the ability to deliver complex messages in a simple and creative way.
- Have strong project management, planning and organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
- Have high energy levels, resilience and ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organisation.
- Demonstrate a collaborative approach.
A highly competitive salary will be on offer, with a generous bonus and benefits package. A full job description is available on request.
