Part-Time Company Secretary - Real Estate

Our client, a dynamic and purpose-driven real estate developer, is seeking a seasoned Company Secretary to support its governance and regulatory functions. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, with a dotted line to the Board Chair, you will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance. The role is offered on a part-time basis (c2 days/week) and can be done remotely (with attendance to Board and Committee meetings).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Board and executive team with governance, statutory and regulatory matters.
  • Attending and minuting Board and Committee meetings, maintaining action logs, and ensuring follow-up.
  • Assisting with Board and Committee evaluations, making recommendations for governance improvements.
  • Overseeing statutory compliance, including filings with Companies House and maintaining statutory books.
  • Monitoring compliance with governance codes and recommending improvements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of UK company law, corporate governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
  • The ability to engage with senior stakeholders and provide sound governance advice.
  • Local authority experience would be advantageous.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of the workload.
