Your new role
In this senior manager position, you will be reporting to the University Deputy Company Secretary. You'll be responsible for ensuring the institution's governance structures are effective, compliant, and strategically aligned. This includes advising senior leaders on regulatory and policy matters, overseeing statutory obligations, managing governance documentation, and supporting Council and committee operations. You'll contribute to shaping governance strategy in line with the education provider's long-term goals. Adopting a collaborative working style, with a strong focus on accurate minute-taking and the development of comprehensive policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you'll need to demonstrate extensive experience in governance, legal, or policy advisory positions, ideally within a university-level or a similar regulatory environment. Strong leadership and strategic thinking are essential, along with a proven ability to manage boardrooms and influence senior stakeholders. You'll be adept at navigating institutional dynamics through excellent communication and possess a deep understanding of governance frameworks, statutory compliance, and sector-specific regulations.
To succeed in this role, you need to have a solutions-focused mindset and a proactive approach to tasks. Experience in minute-taking and managing formal records of meetings is also vital, ensuring transparency and accountability across governance processes.
