We develop and deliver professional qualifications that equip learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to excel in governance and related disciplines.
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the development, quality assurance and assessment of our qualifications.
Role Overview
We are looking for professionals with significant expertise in governance and related subject areas who can contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality qualifications and assessments.
As an SME, you will work collaboratively with our Assessment and Standards teams to ensure our qualifications remain current, rigorous, relevant and aligned with professional standards.
The role will vary depending on your experience and expertise and may include one or more of the activities listed below.
Responsibilities
Opportunities may include:
- Writing assessment questions for examinations and other assessments.
- Reviewing assessment questions to ensure accuracy, validity, fairness and alignment with learning outcomes.
- Marking learner assessments and examination scripts in accordance with marking schemes and quality standards.
- Developing and evaluating case studies that reflect realistic professional scenarios.
- Providing subject expertise and technical review of qualification content.
- Supporting standardisation and quality assurance activities to maintain assessment integrity.
- Contributing to webinars, workshops or learner support activities, where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Significant professional experience in your area of expertise and ideally be a member of the Chartered Governance Institute.
- A strong understanding of current governance practices, legislation, regulation and emerging trends.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to analyse information critically and provide constructive feedback.
- Experience of creating, reviewing or evaluating technical or educational content.
- The ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience of assessment design, question writing or marking.
- Experience in higher education, professional education or workplace learning.
- Knowledge of online and digital learning methodologies.
- Previous experience working as an examiner, moderator, assessor, marker or subject specialist.
