Peter Lee, Trust Secretary of the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded an accolade for good governance by The Chartered Governance Institute, organiser of the prestigious ICSA Awards 2019. Peter won the coveted Company Secretary of the Year award at a glittering awards celebration at the Park Lane Hilton in London last night, narrowly pipping Andrew Eames of St. Modwen Properties PLC, who was Highly Commended by the judges, to the award.

The Chartered Governance Institute of the UK and Ireland (CGIUKI) has launched its series of accreditation and training programmes to lift the standard for board performance reviews.

On 1 May 2025, the prestigious CGIUKI Annual Lecture was held at the London Business School. The lecture brought together senior governance professionals including the Chartered Governance Institute’s Global Council, the Institute’s board, and distinguished friends of the Institute to explore one of the most vital qualities in board leadership: independent judgement. Nearly 50% of UK companies and not for profits have plans to reach gender parity at board level according to the results of a snapshot survey of governance professionals, conducted by the Chartered Governance Institute for UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) in association with The Core Partnership.

ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute has today released a statement outlining its views about the situation of having chief executives, and other staff, as trustees of charitable companies such as academy trusts.
