An article in the Financial Times on 10 September reported that a group of lawyers and academics had criticised the Financial Reporting Council’s review of the UK Corporate Governance Code for an “extraordinary omission” by not formalising the role of the general counsel in the Code.

The chief executive of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) has today called for greater appreciation of those working in health sector governance believing that their contribution to the NHS does not always get the acknowledgment that it deserves.

CGIUKI has welcomed the FRC’s new Corporate Governance Code but cautioned that governance and regulatory reform remains incomplete.

As a result of the decision to prioritise its role as a standard setter and registration body, CGIUKI is no longer providing board performance reviews through its in-house board evaluation service, CGI Board Evaluation.
