Mark Holmes Deputy Director, Corporate Governance, Audit Reform & Shareholder Rights

Mark Holmes is Deputy Director, Corporate Governance, Audit Reform & Shareholder Rights at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. He has been responsible for leading and coordinating the Government’s package of reforms of audit and corporate governance since January 2019.

Mark’s career in the Civil Service began in 1997. He has experience in the Cabinet Office, the Small Business Service and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills before it became part of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in 2009. From 2011 he worked in science and innovation policy: including the impact of publicly-funded research, the overlap of innovation and local growth policy and the standards and accreditation system. Between 2015 and 2019 he was responsible for a range of policy and legislation on employment rights, including policy on flexible working and employment rights for parents. He studied Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge and has an MBA from Cranfield University.
