Overview
Conflicts of interest are firmly in the regulatory spotlight following the GFSC’s recent thematic review and continue to feature prominently in governance failings reported both locally and internationally. For directors and senior governance professionals, how conflicts are identified, disclosed and managed is no longer a “box ticking” exercise, but a core measure of board effectiveness, integrity and regulatory credibility.
In this interactive lunchtime seminar, Tess Price of Virteffic will explore conflicts of interest through both a regulatory and practical governance lens. Drawing on the GFSC’s thematic findings, real world scenarios and good practice examples, the session will equip participants with the confidence to recognise conflict risks early and address them appropriately before they undermine decision making or regulatory trust. The session will move beyond theory to focus on the realities of the Guernsey boardroom and the challenges of managing conflicts in smaller or closely connected jurisdictions. Participants will leave with practical tools, clear processes and actionable insights they can apply immediately within their boards, committees and organisations.
