This guidance sets out the steps you might want to take when a new trustee joins the board of your charity. New trustees need support to get up to speed with the charity’s governance, projects, operations, stakeholders and impact. This support is offered through an induction process.
A thorough induction process will enable trustees to feel valued and to be effective in their new role. Induction needs to be tailored not only to the charity, in terms of its size, staff and area of work, but also to the trustee, in terms of their experience, skills and understanding of charity governance.
