The Academies Financial Handbook (AFH) is one of the Department for Education’s key pieces of statutory guidance outlining good governance and financial management in academy trusts. Along with the Governance Handbook, the articles of association and the funding arrangement with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), the AFH provides detailed guidance as to what the regulator expects of charity trustees, senior managers and governance professionals in terms of the governance of an academy trust.
