Charity toolkits

Toolkits designed specifically for governance professionals and CoSecs in charities

Governance can sometimes be daunting and difficult to navigate. That's why we have developed two new toolkits specifically to help governance professionals and CoSecs working in charities:

  • Toolkit for medium-sized charities
  • Toolkit for small and micro-sized charities

The toolkits include lots of helpful information, and also include guidance around the new Charity Governance Code, which is published on Monday 3 November.

The Charity Governance Code (2025)

The new Charity Governance Code (2025) sets a refreshed benchmark for good governance across the charity sector.

The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) was a member of the Code’s voluntary steering group, we helped to ensure that it reflects the evolving needs and ambitions of charities today.

The new Code builds on the sector’s collective experience and learning, offering practical guidance to help trustees and boards deliver their charitable purposes with integrity, effectiveness, and transparency. The Institute believes that strong governance is fundamental to public trust and to the impact charities can achieve.

We will publish the Code here on Monday 3 November. Once it has been published we will make any necessary final changes to our toolkits and then make them available here too.
