Code for Sports Governance Review – The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland response
The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland welcomes today’s announcement on the outcome of the review of the Code for Sports Governance. The Institute is proud to have played its role both in the review process and in supporting Sport England and UK Sport funded organisations via the Sports Governance Academy, which it established in 2020 to improve governance within the sport and physical activity sector.

Dr Sam De Silva, a Partner in the IT and Outsourcing team of international law firm CMS, has been named ‘Governance Champion of the Year’ at The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland’s 2021 Awards, which took place at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel last night. The Awards, which were hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dan Walker, recognise those individuals and teams who have excelled in good governance, helping organisations to better serve their stakeholders and society in the process.

Guidance about AGMs and impact of Covid-19 issued
The Chartered Governance Institute and Slaughter and May have today published guidance about company AGMs and the impact of Covid-19 in order to support British businesses and their shareholders during the coronavirus pandemic. Supported by the FRC, GC100, the Investment Association and the Quoted Companies Alliance, and reviewed by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the guidance suggests that companies consider their contingency plans in light of the spread of Covid-19.
