B1 Annual Return filing - this year it’s different

It’s that time of the year again when a large number of companies are filing their form B1 Annual Return.

Given the ‘annual’ nature of this filing, many people will not have yet have completed a B1 since the Companies Registration Office (“CRO”) introduced their updated CORE system in December 2020.

It is important to note that there have been some changes to the process from previous years, such as:

  • A consolidated 56 day period from the annual return date within which to prepare and complete the annual return filing;

  • The B1 signature page is now the last created document (after upload of financial statements, directorships lists, etc);

  • All documents must now be loaded electronically (no more sending signed signature pages to CRO);

  • PDF copies of completed signature pages must uploaded to CORE, however electronic signature of these is not permitted;

  • Signature pages can be now signed in counterpart by director and secretary.
