Affiliated membership provides professional recognition of the achievement, value and capability of those who have qualified on one of our non-chartered routes. It is open to those who have achieved The Chartered Governance Institute's short course qualifications in governance and compliance, or achieved part qualified status on The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme that leads to chartered membership. Part qualified status is the passing of four modules, excluding the Foundation Programme and the Fast Track Professional Route.
Affiliated membership is denoted by the use of the post-nominals CG (Affiliated) and acknowledges your commitment to our code of professional ethics and conduct and to keeping your skills up-to-date with continuing professional development.
Students who have part qualified on The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme can hold Affiliated membership status simultaneously with their ongoing student membership.
If you are currently studying on a short course governance or compliance qualification eligible for Affiliated membership, you will be invited to take it up on achieving your results.
Affiliated membership enhances your professional standing by providing global recognition of your qualifications in governance and compliance. You also benefit from:
|Region and duration||Fees for short course and Part One (Qualifying Programme) graduates who are not continuing study||Fees for Part One (Qualifying Programme) graduates actively continuing study|
|Full rate one year||£195||An extra £37 on the annual student renewal fee|
|Full rate half year||£97.50||£18.50|
|Reduced rate one year||£120||An extra £22 on the annual student renewal fee|
|Reduced rate half year||£60||£11|
If you are eligible for free Professional Subscription in 2020/21, as part of your course fee you can upgrade to Affiliated membership for just the difference.
All alumni from our partner courses are entitled to either enjoy a free year’s professional subscription, or upgrade to Affiliated membership by payment of the difference between the two rates - £45 for residents of full rate countries and £22.50 for those in reduced rate countries.
If you part qualify half way through the membership year (typically between January – May) you can take up Affiliated membership status at a half year rate.
If you have achieved part qualified status, and do not intend to continue your studies to Chartered status, you are eligible to become an Affiliated member at the full rate for your region.
As a Chartered or Affiliated member, you belong to an international governance community and if you take the opportunity to live and work in another country, your membership is transferable across any of the nine divisions.
The Chartered Governance Institute also has an agreement with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, under which members of The ICSI can liaise and study with any of our nine divisions, and enjoy the same transfer rights as our members.
