Types of Qualifications
Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme
Study our flagship postgraduate level qualification to become a Chartered governance professional and Chartered member of CGIUKI.
This is our flagship qualification and the most common route to GradCG status and Chartered membership of the Institute. The programme covers seven subjects at two levels and can be completed alongside your full-time job.
International Finance and Administration
An IFA qualification is a great way to increase your employability – wherever you work, and whatever stage you’re at in your career.
We developed our International Finance and Administration (IFA) qualifications in response to the increasing complexity of providing financial services across borders, as well as the growing demand for greater transparency.
Sector Qualifications
We offer qualifications to suit a variety of professional requirements and sectors, including academy, charity law, corporate, education, and health services governance.
We offer sector-specific one year self-study qualification courses, which you can do alongside your day job. Upon completion, you will be eligible to take up Affiliate membership with the Institute.
Foundation Programme
The Foundation Programme is your first step on the path to a career as a governance professional or company secretary.
This programme provides the relevant skills and knowledge to prepare you for Part One of our Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme. This is especially useful if you don't yet have the academic or professional experience required.
Accredited Qualification Courses
We work with partners to offer the governance community a wider range of accredited courses, ideal for various specialisms in governance.
In addition to courses run by CGIUKI, we are proud to work with some renowned training providers and business schools to offer a range of qualifications ideal for career progression for governance professionals.
Validated Postgraduate University Courses
We have long standing partnerships with a number of UK and Irish Universities to offer an alternative route to Chartered membership of CGIUKI.
These postgraduate qualifications cover the same core content as The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme and may offer fast-track opportunities and exemptions for students with relevant experience.
Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme
Study our flagship postgraduate level qualification to become a Chartered governance professional. This programme offers various entry routes tailored for:
- Those new to governance
- Individuals with a related degree such as accounting, law, or business
- Established professionals in the field
CGI is the only organisation offering Chartered status in governance and serves as the membership body for governance professionals.
